European Maritime Day
On 18th May 2016 in Turku, Finland, the conference „European Maritime Day" took place - an annual event which brings together the European maritime economy community. The conference was attended by representatives of the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk.
Among the speakers were: prof. Jacek Zaucha „Capacity development in maritime spatial planning" and MSc Joanna Przedrzymirska „Enhanced engagement of SMEs in blue innovation".

During the EMD2016 in the exhibition area, among of 30 exhibitors THE SUBMARINER NETWORK had its own stand (aktywny link: http://www.submariner-network.eu/). The Maritime Institute in Gdansk is a founding member of the Network. Activities of the Network and the flagship projects of the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, implemented in cooperation between the network partners - eg. Smart Blue Regions, Baltic Blue Growth, Baltic LINes were presented. On 19 th May 2016 in Turku Members Assembly of the Network took place with participation of representatives of our Institute.
As a project partner of the Smart Blue Regions ”Smart Specialisation and Blue Growth in the Baltic Sea Region" the Project Management Centre of the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk is pleased to announce that on 19-20th May 2016 the first meeting of the project partners took place also in Turku.
At the meeting the tasks scheduled for realisation in 2016 were discussed. The aim of the project is to support the "blue" coastal development in regions of the Baltic Sea through an effective implementation of the smart specializations strategies related to the maritime economy, an exchange of a good practice and identification of common future directions of the cooperation between the regions.
The existing results of the project will be presented at the conference „BE SMART, THINK BLUE” to be organized by the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk in cooperation with the national contact point (NCP) networks BioHorizon and ETNAplus - the event will be held in Gdansk on 19-20th September 2016.
